Yours, and stays there
- The files in your space folders
- Every note as Markdown, with its history
- Claude Code or Codex, on your own plan
Trust What a careful founder asks before moving company knowledge into a new tool, answered plainly, each with its source.
Every provider, its location and what it receives is listed in the privacy policy.
EVY’s helper writes each space’s notes into its folder on your Mac and keeps them current. No export, no lock-in: the copy is already there.

## Open questions
- Single sign-on before launch? No. The first time you open EVY on your Mac, it creates an account for that Mac without an email or password. A key stays in your Mac’s Keychain, and our server keeps only a fingerprint of it. You add an email later, when you want to invite people.
They are already on your Mac. EVY writes every note as a plain Markdown file into your space folder, in the same folders you see in EVY, and updates the copy every few minutes with full history in git. Any editor, search tool or AI agent can read it, and it stays yours if you stop using EVY.
Your files stay on your Mac. EVY’s servers, at Hetzner in Nuremberg, Germany, store your plans, tasks, notes and chats so EVY can plan with you and your team can share a space. Uploaded files and voice notes are stored with Amazon S3. From folders you link to a space, EVY reads only the path, file names, sizes and dates.
Agents such as Claude Code and Codex run on your Mac under your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, so that work goes to Anthropic or OpenAI under your agreement with them. EVY’s own features, such as Talk to EVY, the morning check-in, transcription and search, call AI providers in the USA, mainly Anthropic and OpenAI, with only the content each feature needs.
We do not use your content to train AI models. EVY calls its providers through their business APIs, and OpenAI and Anthropic state that they do not train on data sent that way by default.
EVY is built by a small team in Europe and operated by Helix Studio OÜ, a company registered in Tallinn, Estonia, under EU law. You can reach the people who build it at [email protected].
Your notes are already on your Mac as Markdown with their history, your space folders never left it, and your agents run on your own AI plan. Nothing you need is locked inside EVY. If you want your account gone, email [email protected] and we delete it within 30 days.
In the app we record which screens you open and what you click, and keep short screen recordings with every piece of text and everything you type hidden. Error reports help us fix bugs. On the website, analytics run only if you agree in the cookie banner.
Email the people who build EVY. If your question shows a gap on this page, we add the answer here.
